Junk We Haul Most in Louisville

First things first: this is Louisville, Blount County, Tennessee. Not Kentucky. We get asked. The town runs along the north edge of the county with Fort Loudoun Lake as its border, and a lot of our jobs here start at the top of a sloped lake lot and end at the water. It's about 17 to 18 miles from downtown Knoxville by Alcoa Highway or Pellissippi Parkway, and SR-334 ties it to Alcoa and Maryville. Big lots, long carries, plenty of decks.

  • Old spas on lake-lot decks, handled with hot tub removal
  • Sheds, playsets and fencing on large lots, cleared with shed removal
  • Builder leftovers and packing debris from new subdivisions
  • Furniture that didn't fit the new house, like the 1990s glass-door hutch that looked great in the old dining room
  • Patio sets, grills and dock furniture

No Town Trash Service: How Louisville Junk Gets Hauled

This surprises people who just moved here. The Town of Louisville doesn't provide garbage service, and it doesn't run recycling either. You hire a private hauler for weekly trash or drive it to the public landfill yourself. So there's no free curbside bulky day, ever.

If you go the landfill route, it's the Alcoa/Maryville/Blount County Landfill at 240 Long Powers Road in Friendsville, open Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Loads up to 500 pounds cost a $15 minimum. Trash and construction debris run $60 a ton. For a couple of bags that's fine. For a sleeper sofa, a dead chest freezer and a pile of deck boards, it means a borrowed truck, a helper and most of a Saturday.

Types of Junk Removal We Offer in Louisville

These are the Louisville jobs we see most, starting with the heaviest. We price by how much of our 16-yard trailer your stuff fills. A quarter load is about two grocery-store shopping carts heaped full, and the price gets said before loading.

Hot Tub Removal on Lake Lots

Lake homes along Fort Loudoun Lake often have a hot tub on a deck or patio. After an electrician disconnects the power, we drain the tub, cut it into sections and carry the pieces out. A two-person tub weighs 500 to 800 pounds empty, and bigger ones weigh much more. Most hot tub removal jobs cost $300 to $600.

Decks high above a sloped yard take longer, so we check the path first. See hot tub removal for how it works.

We've done tubs here where the deck sits 10 feet above a yard that drops toward the lake. Twenty-two steps down, one turn at the bottom. On those we cut the shell into smaller pieces than usual so each one is safe to carry on the stairs. Takes an extra half hour. Nobody slips.

Shed Removal and Outbuildings

Bigger lots mean more sheds, playsets, fences and lean-tos. We take them apart by hand, haul the walls, roof and floor, and rake the spot. Shed removal costs $400 to $1,500 depending on size, and shed demolition on a sloped lot can take a bit longer. Since the town has no curbside pickup, sheds and fencing always need a hauler or a landfill trip. More on shed removal.

The lake air is hard on wood. Shed floors go soft first, then the corners of the walls. If the door won't close anymore, that's usually the floor sagging, and it's time. We pull out what's stored inside before we take it down, so the old mower and the gas cans get handled on their own. Gas has to come out of mowers before they're hauled.

Construction Debris From New Homes

New subdivisions bring builder leftovers, lumber offcuts, packing crates and drywall scraps. Homeowners finishing a basement or adding a porch also call us. We load it from the garage or yard and haul it in one trip. The landfill charges $60 a ton for construction debris, which is part of every price we quote.

Honestly, the most common new-home pile is cardboard. Appliance boxes, furniture cartons, foam blocks. It takes up a lot of room for its weight, so a garage full of it can still be a half-load job. If it's flattened, it's cheaper. If you've got time, flatten it before we come.

Furniture Removal After a Move

Families moving into Louisville often bring furniture that doesn't fit the new house. We take couches, sectionals, bedroom sets, desks and dining tables, and send good pieces to the Knoxville Habitat for Humanity ReStore or KARM Stores. The rest goes to the landfill.

We think good furniture shouldn't go in a landfill. If a dresser or table can sit in a ReStore, we drive it there, and we tell you which pieces are going where while we're loading. Pieces with water damage from a damp basement usually can't be donated, so those go to the landfill.

Appliance Removal

Old fridges, freezers, washers, dryers and ranges get swapped out when a house sells. Fridges and freezers cost $50 extra because the coolant has to be recovered under EPA Section 608. Metal appliances without coolant go to scrap. The landfill charges $20 for each refrigerated appliance on its own.

A fridge weighs about 250 pounds. On a lake house with the kitchen up a flight of stairs, that's two of our guys and a strap dolly, and we take the doors off first if the stairway is tight. We won't leave one at the curb with the coolant in it.

Estate and Hoarder Cleanouts

Older riverfront homes sometimes come with decades of belongings. We clear them room by room and set aside anything the family wants to keep. An estate cleanout usually costs $1,000 to $4,000. Hoarding cleanup costs $1,200 to $5,000 depending on the size of the house and how full it is.

A hoarder cleanup moves at the pace of a slow walk around a yard sale. You look at everything once, and the owner decides. We bring boxes for the keep pile and keep the kept things separate on the truck. Nothing gets tossed without a yes. Read more about hoarder cleanup.

Louisville Junk Removal Prices

Junk removal in Louisville usually costs $125 to $800 in 2026, depending on how much of our 16-yard trailer the load fills. A few bulky items are $125, half a trailer $400 and a full trailer $800. Fridges and mattresses add $50 each.

Louisville jobTypical load2026 price
Recliner and mattress setQuarter trailer plus mattress fees$225
Hot tub off a lake-lot deckCut up and hauled$300 to $600
Move-in boxes and builder scrapsHalf trailer$400
Shed, fence panels and playsetBy size$400 to $1,500
Basement finishing debrisFull trailer$800
Hoarder cleanupBy house size$1,200 to $5,000

Travis has said it to every new hire: the price should be said out loud while we're both looking at the pile. That's how every Louisville job starts. If the load turns out heavier than it looked, that's our problem, not yours.

Compare that with doing it yourself. The landfill charges $25 for each mattress or box spring and $20 for each fridge, on top of $60 a ton for the rest, and the Tennessee landfill surcharge rides on every ton. Add a rented truck, gas and a day off work, and a half-trailer job at $400 starts to look like the cheaper choice. For one or two small items, though, the landfill is hard to beat, and we'll tell you that on the phone.

A River Port That Doubled in Ten Years

Louisville was incorporated in 1851 and grew as a flatboat and steamboat port on the Tennessee River. Its downtown was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Today the town has both old riverfront homes and new subdivisions.

The old riverfront houses near downtown have deep attics and long-forgotten basements. Every time we open one up we find the same mix: canning jars, a steamer trunk, window screens from a house that got new windows thirty years ago, and a box of National Geographics nobody can bear to throw out. We go slow in those. Some of it is worth keeping.

The population nearly doubled from 2,439 in 2010 to 4,384 in 2020. The median home value is about $379,900, and the median household income is about $89,744. New homes mean lots of move-ins, and move-ins mean junk.

New neighborhoods also mean a lot of first-year projects: a finished basement, a screened porch, a new fence. Each one leaves debris. We can haul it as you go or all at once when the project is done.

The Little River empties into the Tennessee River near Louisville, and the area gets about 52 inches of rain a year. Damp storage and old boat gear are common in cleanouts. We also serve Seymour, east past Maryville.

For recycling, Louisville points residents to Keep Blount Beautiful. The Knox County convenience centers are no help here, since they're for Knox County residents only. The Blount County Recycling Center at 331 Levi Street in Maryville is free, but it doesn't take electronics or hazardous waste. The landfill's own recycling drop-off takes electronics, scrap metal and used tires. When we haul from Louisville, metal goes to scrap and usable furniture goes to donation, so less of your load ends up buried.

Since nobody in town picks up bulky items, we tend to get bigger Louisville loads than in towns with a curb day. People save it up. That's fine with us. A full trailer is $800, and most of the time we're in and out in a morning.

You've Got Questions

Louisville Junk Removal FAQs

Is this Louisville, Tennessee or Louisville, Kentucky?

This page is for Louisville, Tennessee, the town of about 4,400 people in Blount County on Fort Loudoun Lake. It is about 17 to 18 miles from downtown Knoxville. We don't work in Louisville, Kentucky, which is a different city in another state.

Does Louisville have curbside bulky pickup?

No. The Town of Louisville provides no garbage or recycling service, so there is no curbside bulky day. Residents use private haulers or drive to the Blount County landfill in Friendsville, which charges a $15 minimum and $60 a ton for trash and construction debris.

Can you haul junk from a boat dock?

We haul loose items from docks and lake yards, like dock boxes, patio furniture, coolers, old life jackets and grills. We carry them up to the trailer. Anything still bolted to the dock or sitting in the water needs a marine contractor before we can take it.

Can I take my junk to the Blount County landfill myself?

Yes, if you live in Blount County. The landfill only takes waste from Blount County homes and businesses and asks for proof of residency at check-in. It is open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and charges $25 per mattress and $20 per fridge.
