Yard Debris Removal and Storm Cleanup in Knoxville

Brush piles grow fast in East Tennessee. One spring of pruning, a limb off the big red oak, the old fence that finally fell over. We cut long pieces down to fit, load everything by hand, and rake the small stuff so the grass shows again. Knoxville Elite Hauling provides yard debris removal and brush removal to Knoxville and surrounding Tennessee cities, including Farragut, Maryville, Powell, Seymour, Louisville and Alcoa.

Storm days are a different animal. A hard wind can drop a shed along with the trees, and we'll haul that too. If a limb took out part of a porch, the boards and railing go with our construction debris removal crew. We do a lot of storm cleanup out in Seymour and Louisville, where bigger lots mean bigger brush piles.

What Changes the Price of Yard Waste Removal

Most backyard jobs we haul land between $125 and $400. A few things push a pile up or down the scale:

  • How it's stacked: a loose, tangled pile takes more room than limbs cut short and laid flat.

Typical 2026 prices: $125 for a quarter load, $400 half, $600 three-quarters and $800 for a full trailer. Most brush piles land in the $125 to $400 range.

Types of Yard Waste Removal We Handle

Yard jobs come in five rough shapes. Tell us which one you've got.

Brush Pile Removal

The classic job: branches, vines and clippings that have sat behind the garage for a year. City pickup won't take a pile bigger than 6 x 6 x 6 ft or limbs over 12 in across. We take the whole thing in one trip. Trailer math: a loose pile about the size of a pickup bed is roughly a quarter of our trailer, or $125. We've seen those piles hide a lawn mower or two.

Storm Debris Removal

After a windstorm it's limbs across the driveway, branches in the flower beds and a split trunk in the yard. When an EF-2 tornado (winds strong enough to snap big trees) hit Knoxville on Aug. 7, 2023, city crews hauled about 3,961 tons of brush in three weeks, double the same weeks a year earlier. We haul what's on the ground. A tree still leaning on the house needs a tree service first.

Leaf and Yard Cleanup Hauling

Bagged leaves, grass clippings, pulled shrubs and old mulch. Bags are quick. Loose piles we rake straight onto the trailer. Limbs, logs, brush, stumps and leaves are not accepted at convenience centers anywhere in Knox County, so if you live outside the city limits, a hauler is often the only easy way out. Honestly, fall leaves are the job people put off longest.

Old Fencing, Timbers and Firewood

Rotted fence panels, railroad ties, garden timbers, broken planters and the firewood stack that turned into a termite hotel. These are heavier than brush and slower to load. Metal fence posts and chain-link get pulled out and sold for scrap. Rotted wood goes to the landfill. Out the door in an afternoon, usually.

Logs and Cut-Up Trunks

Logs and rounds we can lift or roll onto the trailer, plus big limbs a tree crew or a storm left behind. We don't grind stumps or cut standing trees. Logs over 12 in across are the ones the city won't take, so this is where we come in. A solid oak round can weigh more than a recliner, which is why logs cost a bit more per load.

Yard Waste Removal Prices

Typical 2026 prices for Knoxville yards. Brush is light for its size, so it fills the trailer by space, not weight.

City Brush Pickup or a Hauler?

City of Knoxville brush pickup is free for city residents and runs roughly March to October on a two-week cycle. It's a good deal when your pile fits the rules. A hauler makes sense when the pile is too big, the limbs are too thick, or you can't wait two weeks for the truck.

  • Pile size: no bigger than 6 x 6 x 6 ft.
  • Placement: within 5 ft of the street.
  • Limb size: nothing over 12 in across, and no stumps.
  • Nothing mixed in: no trash, bulky items or construction debris in the pile.
  • Contractors haul their own: if a tree crew or landscaper made the pile, the city won't take it.

Waiting on the city truck after a big storm is a lot like waiting on a fix-it ticket at the DMV. It happens. Just not this week.

More Yard Cleanup Questions

Can the City Take My Old Mower With the Brush?

Not in the brush pile. City of Knoxville bulky waste pickup takes up to 5 bulky items a week after a 311 call, but brush mixed with trash gets left behind. Mowers need their gas drained first under the gas equipment rule. A push mower with the fuel out can also go free to the Knox County scrap metal area.

Do I Have to Tarp Brush in My Own Truck?

Yes. Under T.C.A. § 55-7-109, loose material in an open truck bed has to stay at least 4 inches below the bed walls, and breaking that rule is a Class C misdemeanor. Knox County's brochure says the same thing in three words: secure your load. Brush blows off easily, so strap it and tarp it.

Yard Waste Removal FAQs

Does Knoxville Pick Up Yard Waste?

Yes, for city residents. City brush pickup runs about March to October on a two-week cycle. Piles have to sit within 5 ft of the street, no bigger than 6 x 6 x 6 ft, with no limbs over 12 in across. Contractors have to haul their own yard waste.

Can I Take Brush to a Knox County Convenience Center?

No. All seven Knox County convenience centers refuse greenwaste, which means limbs, logs, brush, stumps and leaves. They also refuse shingles, concrete and brick. For brush, your choices are the city's curb pickup if you live inside Knoxville, or a hauler like us.

Do You Cut Down Trees?

No. We haul limbs, logs and brush that are already on the ground, and we cut long pieces down so they fit the trailer. A tree that's still standing, leaning on the house or tangled in power lines needs a tree service first. We can come in after them and haul what's left.
